Today, San Francisco’s very own Penthouse Club & Steakhouseopens to the public.
The chef is Michael Ellis, whose resume lists Dry Creek Kitchen and not one, but two, Voltaggio brothers. There are about 50-60 seats upstairs in the restaurant (more on that below), and about 150 seats total, and Ellis is trying his best to make sure the steakhouse side of the name isn’t thrown by the wayside (see the menu here). As you may have noticed, last night there was a opening party with all the usual bells, whistles and passed apps. I didn’t go, but Ellis and I chatted today, because being a chef in a strip club has got to be sort of interesting.
